Hayloft is situated in a quite central location with all village amenities nearby. Hartington village is a delightful and charming limestone village in the White Peak area of the Peak District National Park. The village has its own well dressing and duckpond. The Hayloft is situated on the quiet Church Street. It is very conveniently placed for the village shops and pubs.
The Hartington Hayloft has recently been restored to a very high standard and wherever possible we have retained all the character and charm of this beautiful building. It was built by a local farmer called Joseph Fogg in 1870 and the Bassett family are the third generation of family farmers to live here.

There are two downstairs bedrooms, one of which was the old shippon for the cows and the other a stable for the cart-horses. The adjoining dining area used to be where the carts for the horses were stored. The two upstairs bedrooms were the hayloft for the animals below, hence the name.

About Sennilow Farm
The Bassett family have farmed at Sennilow Farm for three generations. We are an Upland Stock farm of 180 acres, with some land in the Countryside Environmental Stewardship Scheme, as well as some daleside being classed as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).A long while a go we used to milk cows in the shippon and stable, but now we have mainly Aberdeen Angus Beef cattle, suckler cows and their calves, and breeding sheep -- these being mainly mules or texel cross mule sheep, which do well "up in the hills".
We try to farm in harmony with the environment where possible and preserve the glorious landscape which surounds us.
The Hayloft Bed and Breakfast is a member of Peak District Cuisine, BESST (Business and the Environment linked through Small-Scale Tourism) and the Peak District Farm Holiday Group.
